Last week, MOVE America came back in person. After a year online, the mobility industry met at the Palmer Events Center in Austin on September 28 and 29, and Vugo was in the Start-up Village for the second year running.

Last year, MOVE showed how much an event can do online. This year, it was back to a show floor, with its own COVID safety guidance for everyone who came.

What MOVE covered

The 2021 program was bigger than last year's, with tracks on everything from electric cars, battery tech and charging to autonomous vehicles, buses, micromobility, smart cities, city freight, mapping, and ticketing, revenue and payments. Like last year, the business tracks were the closest to home for Vugo. Every shared ride has the same question underneath it: how do you keep the fare low and still pay the people who drive?

What's new for Vugo since last year

A year ago, Vugo was a screen in the back seat. That's still a big part of what we do, in rideshare cars and in on-demand transit. Over the past year we've built a network of in-vehicle and digital rooftop displays for an on-demand transit service in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, bringing passenger experiences to riders and new revenue to the service.

This summer, we added the outside of the car. Vugo vehicle wraps put brands on rideshare, delivery, taxi and fleet cars, recruited for each campaign in the market the advertiser chooses and installed by professional shops. Drivers earn a monthly payment for carrying the wrap.

And with swarms, a brand can bring those wrapped cars together. The advertiser schedules a window at a venue or along a route, and the campaign's wrapped drivers are paid to bring their cars into that zone. For a launch, a game day or a festival, it turns a wrap campaign into a moment people notice.

Why MOVE is the right room

MOVE's audience is the people who run vehicles for a living: transit agencies, on-demand services, ride platforms, fleets and the companies that build for them. For all of them, a vehicle on the road is space that can earn more than the fare, inside the car and out. That's the business Vugo is in.

Thank you to the MOVE America team for having us back in the Start-up Village, and for bringing the industry back together in Austin. If you're a fleet, a ride service or a transit operator, or a brand that wants to be seen on the street, we'd love to talk.
