What car advertising
really costs.
The honest answer is that it depends on a handful of choices you control: the format, the number of cars, the markets and the length of the flight. Here is how each format is priced, what moves the number, and how to compare quotes fairly.
You pay for
different things.
In-vehicle screens
Priced per thousand validated impressions: plays confirmed in a working car out on the road. Plays that can’t be confirmed are free. You set a total budget and dates, and the campaign ends when the budget is spent.
Vehicle wraps
Priced per car for the flight, with production and installation as their own lines. Full, partial and Standard Wraps carry different production costs, because they cover different amounts of the car.
Tiles
Priced per car, two or four Tiles to a car, with printing and shipping included. Drivers apply them, so there’s no shop install to pay for.
Swarms
Priced by the hour per car, for the hours a session runs, on top of a wrap campaign. Hours are charged when the session is performed.
Five choices
set the cost.
How many cars
Wrap and Tiles cost scales with the cars on the road. Screens scale with your budget instead.
How long
Wraps and Tiles run two months or more. A longer flight spreads production over more months on the road.
How much of the car
A full wrap costs more to produce and install than a partial wrap, and a Standard Wrap more than Tiles.
Which markets
Rates differ by city, and more markets mean more cars to recruit and install.
Creative
Bring finished files, or use Vugo’s design service. Canva and the Vugo® templates keep simple designs simple.
Campaign reporting is included: validated plays, QR scans and maps for screens; install photos, monthly wrap photos and route coverage for wraps.
Make sure you’re comparing
the same thing.
Played or validated?
An impression counted whenever a file plays is not the same as one confirmed in a working car on the road. Ask which one you’re paying for.
Available or addressable?
Screens sit in cars already on the road; wraps are recruited for your campaign. Ask how many cars will actually carry your ad, and when.
What’s in the price?
Production, installation, removal, design and reporting can each be included or extra. Line them up side by side.
How is it proven?
Install photos before billing, monthly photos, maps and scan reports are evidence. Ask what you’ll see, and how often.
What’s the minimum?
Ask about minimum flights, cars and budgets, and the lead time before your start date.
Who sees the results?
QR codes with UTM tags send every scan into your own analytics, so you can judge the campaign in your own data.
Quoted for your
campaign, not a menu.
The same number of cars costs different amounts in different cities, for different coverage and lengths of flight. Rather than publish a rate that fits nobody, Vugo quotes your format, markets and dates, with rates, minimums and what’s included spelled out.
