Last week, MOVE America brought the mobility industry to the Palmer Events Center in Austin, and Vugo was back in the Start-up Village for the third year in a row. In 2020 the event was online, and in 2021 it moved to Austin. This year it was in Austin again, bringing together automakers, cities, transit operators, fleets and startups across stages on everything from electric vehicles and charging to smart cities, buses, mobility as a service, ticketing and commerce, and last-mile delivery.
A lot has changed for Vugo since that first MOVE.
What we brought to Austin

When we started, Vugo was a screen in the back seat. Today, Vugo puts brands on the road in four ways:
- Vehicle wraps. Full and partial wraps on rideshare, delivery, taxi and fleet cars, recruited for each campaign in the market the advertiser chooses.
- Swarms. For the moments that matter, the campaign's wrapped drivers are paid to bring their cars to a place or route for a window the advertiser schedules.
- Digital rooftop displays. A screen on top of the car, seen up and down the street.
- In-vehicle displays. A screen in front of the back seat, including our new embedded display, built into the vehicle for a cleaner, more integrated experience.
This spring, all four came together in Miami for the Bitcoin 2022 conference: rooftop displays, wraps, in-vehicle displays and swarms around the convention center, each pointing people to tickets. The conference and its music festival sold out. Read the case study.
Why MOVE is the right room
MOVE's audience is the people who run vehicles for a living: transit agencies, on-demand services, ride platforms and fleets. That's exactly who Vugo works with.
For a fleet, every vehicle on the road is a place to earn more than the fare. Over the past two years, Vugo has built in-vehicle networks for on-demand transit fleets in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, New Jersey and North Carolina, bringing passenger experiences to riders and new revenue to the services that run them. The same platform serves rideshare drivers and taxi fleets, and wraps and rooftop displays add revenue from the outside of the car.
Many of MOVE's stages come back to the same questions: how to pay for better service, how to keep fares low, and how to make the ride itself better for the people in it. A passenger experience that earns its keep is part of the answer.
Thank you, Austin
Thank you to the MOVE America team for three years in the Start-up Village, from a virtual hall in 2020 to Austin this year. If you're a fleet, a ride service or a transit operator, or a brand that wants to be seen on the streets of your city, we'd love to talk.
