A fleet car is one of the busiest pieces of media in a city. It's on the road for hours a day, often across two shifts, through downtown, the airport, the hotels and the neighborhoods in between. Most of that time, the car carries nothing but your company name.

Vugo works with taxi, rideshare and on-demand transit fleets to change that. Your vehicles earn in two ways: in-vehicle screens inside the ride, and wraps on the outside. You can use either one, or both on the same car.

Two ways your fleet earns

Two panels: inside the ride, in-vehicle screens play advertising while the car is on the road, and your fleet earns a share of the ad revenue from the screens in your vehicles; outside the car, wraps earn the campaign's monthly rate for each wrapped car, for as long as the wrap is on.
Inside and out, from the same cars.

Inside the ride: in-vehicle screens. A passenger-facing screen plays advertising while the car is out on the road. Your fleet earns a share of the ad revenue from every screen in your vehicles, and the more your screens are on the road and online, the more they earn. A screen that's off or offline earns nothing until it's back, so keeping screens charged and connected is the simplest way to grow the number.

Outside the car: wraps. Advertisers' wrap campaigns are recruited car by car. Opt your vehicles in, and each wrapped car earns the campaign's monthly rate for as long as the wrap is on, paid after each month ends. One wrap per car, so your cars aren't covered in competing brands.

How a wrap campaign works on a fleet car

Four steps: choose the cars, opting specific vehicles into a campaign; the install, at a professional wrap shop, at a time that fits your shifts; photo proof, install photos and then a photo when Vugo asks; and the monthly rate, paid after each month ends, with your say on extensions.
From opt-in to the monthly rate.
  1. Choose the cars. You pick which vehicles join a campaign. Keep your newest cars in your own colors, wrap the rest, or wrap a whole shift's worth for one advertiser.
  2. Book the install. Vugo arranges it with a professional wrap shop, and you pick a time that fits around your shifts.
  3. Show it's on. Install photos confirm the wrap before the car starts earning, and a quick photo when Vugo asks shows it's still on and in good shape.
  4. Get paid monthly. Each wrapped car earns the campaign's monthly rate after each month ends. If an advertiser extends a campaign, you decide whether the wraps stay on. At the end of the campaign, the wraps come off.

Before you wrap a taxi, check your city's rules on cab exteriors. Many cities set colors, markings or roof signs for licensed taxis, and the wrap has to work around them.

More than advertising

Your screens aren't just for advertisers. They can carry your own messages to riders too: a welcome, a seatbelt reminder, your service hours or a new route. Every message is reviewed by Vugo before it plays, so a rider never sees something that shouldn't be there.

And you decide how your drivers share in what the cars earn. Some fleets keep it all, some pass part of it on, and some use it to reward their best drivers. It's your operation, and your call.

Why it works for fleets

  • It's revenue from time you already have. Your cars are on the road anyway. Screens and wraps add income without adding trips, miles or staff.
  • It works whichever apps your drivers use. Vugo works across taxi, Uber, Lyft and on-demand transit fleets, whatever your dispatch.
  • It pays in two ways. Screens earn inside, wraps earn outside, and the same car can do both.
  • You stay in control. You choose which cars join a wrap campaign, whether wraps stay on for an extension, and what your own screens say.

Questions to ask any in-vehicle advertising partner

Whether you work with Vugo or anyone else, ask:

  1. How is screen revenue counted, and what's my share? Get it in your agreement.
  2. When am I paid, and how? Monthly, on request, after the advertiser pays? Know the timing before you sign.
  3. What happens when a screen goes offline? It shouldn't be a surprise that an offline screen doesn't earn.
  4. Who installs and removes the wraps? It should be a professional shop, booked around your schedule.
  5. Can I see the ads before my riders do? Every ad should meet published content guidelines.
  6. Can I show my own messages? Your screens should work for your brand too.
